HARMONIZE ACADEMY WELCOMES THE NEW MAYOR OF LIVERPOOL

We were honoured to welcome the new Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Barbara Murray, to Harmonize Academy on 24th June 2025. During her visit, the Lord Mayor met with students and staff, toured our school facilities, and explored the extended wing— a much needed development recently brokered by Liverpool City Council.

The Lord Mayor is the chosen representative of the city and plays a vital role in promoting Liverpool and acting as a focal point for the community. Born and educated in Liverpool, Councillor Barbara Murray is passionate about education, creativity, and regeneration of youth provision. Cllr Murray started her political life over fifty years ago and her career has included roles as a civil servant, retail area manager, teacher, and working in community development.

We were delighted to share the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection with Cllr Murray. Harmonize Academy continues to be an outstanding school for the third consecutive time since opening having, ‘taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection’

Cllr Murray congratulated the Principal, Marie McConville and all the staff and students on achieving a third outstanding Ofsted saying, ‘Thank you for all you do if I can help in any way, I will’.

In the same week, Harmonize Academy had the pleasure of hosting two teachers from Realschule auf dem Röddenberg Secondary School in Osterode am Harz, Lower Saxony, Germany. This was part of the UK-German Connection cultural exchange programme which works to bring young people together. Their visit included a special invitation to Liverpool Town Hall to meet with the Lord Mayor. This meeting helped forge a promising ongoing partnership between the Liverpool and Osterode schools.
