Ofsted Report

We are delighted to announce that Harmonize Academy continues to be an outstanding school following an Ofsted visit by Pippa Jackson Maitland, HMI on 14th and 15th January 2020.

The report says, “The best thing ever – this is how pupils describe their experience at Harmonize Academy. From their first day, pupils feel part of a happy school community” and they are given the chance to “turn their lives around”. The school was acknowledged as being “exceptionally successful at helping pupils become the best version of themselves’’ and that the “school succeeds where no one else can”.

The school’s curriculum was praised for putting “the needs of pupils at its heart” by offering academic subjects and a wide range of options which result in significant academic achievement. We were also commended for ‘a fantastic enrichment curriculum’ which enables pupils to develop interests, contribute to the local community, and improve their well-being. Ofsted further reported that, ‘Pupils develop into respectful, caring and considerate young people. This is because the school prioritises pupils’ personal development extremely well’.

Ofsted praised the safeguarding arrangements for being effective saying, “All staff are aware of the particular risks to pupils at this school. They know the signs to look for and what to do if they suspect that any pupil may be at risk of harm.” It was also noted that Harmonize Academy works exceptionally well with families, partner schools and other agencies.

The report also highlights the help that pupils are given to enable them to cope better with their situations, especially those who have experienced trauma, and the dedicated work of the teachers to engage pupils with education and raise their aspirations.

We are proud to tell you that Harmonize Academy has gone from strength to strength since our last inspection and we would like to express our thanks to all our parents, carers, governors and partner organisations for your continued support.
