Ofsted March 2015

We are delighted to announce that Harmonize Academy achieved an Outstanding Ofsted report following a visit by Patrick Geraghty, HMI on 25 and 26 March 2015. 

His report says, “Students make rapid progress in their learning and this is maintained throughout their time at the academy.”

The quality of teaching is reported as outstanding, “Teaching, learning and assessment are outstanding because across the entire curriculum students make very strong progress, are actively engaged in learning and are given exceptional direction and support by staff”.

Ofsted praised the strength of leadership for building a learning community which increases aspirations and improves self-confidence and so establishing better life chances for all students.

Harmonize Academy was also commended for its very strong focus on the pastoral needs of each individual student which is supported through excellent relationships with a range of external agencies.

“Pastoral care for students is outstanding and is strongly focused on tackling individual student needs.”

The report highlighted the academy’s work to keep students safe and secure as outstanding. Overall, students say they feel safe within the academy and talk positively about their progress and ambitions for the future.

Ofsted noted that many students excel in the performing arts which sit at the heart of the alternative provision.  Literacy and numeracy are embedded across the curriculum and further enhanced by a variety of initiatives.
